Rob “The Rabbit” Pitts, the star of Netflix’s “Tex Mex Motors,” died on Sunday, his representatives announced. He was 45.

The reality television star and CEO of Pitts Truck Service was diagnosed with stomach cancer in March while filming season 2 of “Tex Mex Motors,” according to a video entitled “This Is Goodbye,” posted to Pitts’ YouTube page Sunday night.

Prior to his diagnosis, Pitts was losing his appetite and having “acid reflux-like symptoms.” He visited urgent care to get treatment for his symptoms but “didn’t get to the root of the problem” until his cast mate, Jamie Hjelm, took him to the emergency room and he was officially diagnosed with cancer.

“Don’t be sad for me … I accomplished my dream of buying my own store, finishing Season 2 of Netflix, and marrying the love of my life,” Pitts said in the video announcement that has over 1.2 million views.

Pitts’ videographer, Jeff Trahan, said in a comment on the video that he died in hospice Sunday evening.

“He will be missed and we will never forget him!” Trahan wrote.

Pitts’ “Tex Mex Motors” costar, Marcos “Scooter” Carrera, posted about the news on Instagram.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I write about the passing of my cast member & friend ROB ‘RABBIT’ PITTS,” Carrera wrote. “Rest In Peace Brother, I’m going to really miss you!!!”

The comment section of the video was filled with fans remembering Pitts as a great storyteller.

“Someone perfectly described Rob’s voice as ‘honey poured over gravel’. I’ll never forget the man, his voice and his stories,” one commenter wrote.

“Best storyteller I’ve ever heard. Entertaining, funny, and one heck of a salesman,” another commenter wrote.

Pitts starred on two seasons of the Netflix show, a reality TV series where cars are brought from Mexico to Texas to be restored. The first season aired in 2023. It’s not clear when the second season will air.

In the goodbye video, Pitts warned viewers to listen to their bodies.

“You know I always have advice, and this time it’s if your body is telling you something is wrong, don’t stop until you figure it out,” he said. “Ask questions and get answers.”
